Siyanda Xaba, born on the 4th of July 1992 grew up at Esikhawini Township and later relocated to Empangeni where he is currently living. He studied visual art at Empangeni High School where he did drawing, printmaking and painting. Siyanda furthered his passion for art by studying at Durban University of Technology where he did Fine Art and majored in painting, drawing and sculpture. Siyanda participated in various art competition such as the under 21 competition that is held annually at Steve Biko Gallery as well as the Sasol signature competition. In 2012 he participated in a group exhibition which constituted two groups; Fine Art and Jewelry Students. The exhibition was called First Hand: Paper and Metal Exhibition. Last year he participated in an exhibition at KZNSA with other third year Fine artist Students and Jewelry students at the end of the year. This year he has participated in ABSA L'Atelier art competition and has been selected as one of the finalist. Currently he has been part of the AWEH exhibition which featured one of his work titled self portrait at the KZNSA. Siyanda has also taken part on the Digital Art Festival at DUT where he featured two works titled Persecution and Old wounds that never heal. Siyanda Xaba tutors Two Dimensional studies at Durban University of Technology and is currently finishing his B Tech Degree in Fine Art.
